Privacy
What this site collects, what the demo applications do with your input, and how to change your choice.
01What this site collects
This is a static site served by GitHub Pages. It has no forms, no accounts and no comment system; the only ways to reach me are email and LinkedIn, so nothing you type here reaches me unless you choose to send it.
Visits are counted with Google Analytics 4, and only with your consent. The site uses Google Consent Mode v2 with every storage type set to denied by default: until you press Allow on the cookie bar, the Google script is not loaded, no cookie is set and no request is made to Google. If you press Decline, nothing changes. If you allow it, Google Analytics records a page view with a truncated IP address, and I use the aggregate counts to see which pages are read — nothing more. Advertising storage and personalisation stay off whatever you choose.
GitHub, which hosts the site, logs visitor IP addresses for security and legal purposes under GitHub’s privacy statement. Those logs are GitHub’s, not mine.
02The demo applications
The eight platforms and the Research Lab demonstrations run entirely in your browser. There is no server behind them: every calculation happens on your machine, and nothing you enter — a name to screen, a transfer to assess, a brief to schedule — leaves the page. All of their data is synthetic or a dated, frozen local snapshot.
- Helm keeps your projects, and Vantage its view setting, in your browser’s local storage so you can return to them; that copy stays on your device and is cleared through your browser.
- Every page, the Helm and Vantage workspaces and the Morris Anderson preview included, ships its typefaces with the site: opening a page makes no request to Google Fonts or any other font service.
03Cookies and local storage
The site itself sets no cookies. Two values are kept in your browser’s local storage: cf-theme, your light or dark preference, and cf-consent, your answer to the cookie bar. Neither is sent anywhere. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_…) only after you have pressed Allow; declining removes them again, and you can delete them through your browser at any time.
04Your rights and contact
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss FADP you can ask what personal data I hold about you, have it corrected or erased, and object to its processing. Because this site collects nothing that identifies you, the honest answer is usually that I hold nothing beyond the email you sent me. Write to civfarmer@gmail.com.
